Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness; it is a dynamic process of change and growth. It is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
I am using this month to review and renew my health goals. My focus is on staying safe and healthy; physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Looking back 12 months ago, I am a recovering supplement addict. I have successfully ditched almost all of the health supplements that I depended on (or thought I did). At one stage I swear you could hear me rattling along as I walked!
I took beetroot, black seed oil, fenugreek, turmeric, cayenne, B complex, vitamin D3 capsules amongst others. Apart from the sheer exhaustion of remembering to take them, and the cost,I realised towards the end of the year that I really couldn’t be sure which were working at all. (My doctor said I had too much B6)
So I cut them all out and pledged to trust in the natural nutrients contained in my home-cooked meals.
- I have consciously increased more varieties of fresh veggies, fruits, and seeds, bee pollen and cacao to my food intake. Where possible eat raw more and not overcook veggies.
- I have been poultry-free for almost three and a half years now and I am almost dairy-free
- I swapped coffee for matcha tea and botanical teas and now make my own infusions and stay hydrated healthy all day long
- I also got rid of our microwave oven over six months ago, even though one family member complains we live in the ‘dark ages’
- I have mastered my (headstand)Sirsasana I will be working on my handstand while Continuing to walk as much as possible
- This is a work in progress and subject to review.
I will say, this has been MY health journey that I will share because at no other time in the world has our own health been put back into our own hands.
Amazing work!
