Looking ahead on my journey
I am an African Diasporic, Mother, Lover, Daughter, Sister, Creative, Educator , Dreamer ,Empath , Naturalista, Queen. My cultural experiences are drawn from my Nigerian and Grenadian heritage; growing up in London, England ; travelling and living in several continents; and constantly seeking new ways of doing old things.
I am on a journey on becoming the best version of myself.
My aim is to share my experiences in order to show you are not alone on your journey towards, a happier, healthier lifestyle. It is has been my constant challenge to balance a busy lifestyle; find ways to eat more healthily; spend more time with my family and still find time to fit in time that bring personal joy. It took me a while to realise that I am worthy of my own time too, and without filling my own cup up , it becomes a chore to fill others cups. I too, understand, that when you wear so many hats and fill so many roles , that are barely acknoweged, it is hard to find a moment to connect back to the Source of life; to peace and love; joy and pain. This too is a worthy journey.
A month ago, I left London after 16 years to teach in the Cayman Islands at a Nursery Farm School.
I left behind my son, Zuri, aged 22, who graduated a year ago and Zara aged 16, who also started Sixth Form Boarding School.
I now shuttle between Lagos and London to spend time with my grown up children, bestfriend and life partner, and family members. I enjoy long walks, yoga, reading, cooking healthful dishes for myself and my family, learning from new experiences, travelling and creating candles. I also recently finished my research on Windrush generation stories ; Empire and legacies of Trans Atlantic Slavery, for my M.A project in Postcolonial Culture and Global Policy at Goldsmiths’, University of London.
